Two New Awards Fly In For Aviation Museum

Staff and volunteers at RAF Museum Cosford are celebrating after Servicemark, the National Standard for Customer Service, granted the Museum a Silver Award.

Servicemark recognises the very best in customer service. Visitors to any business that displays the Servicemark logo can be confident that they will enjoy a total commitment to excellence. The Museum now joins a select group of enterprises across the West Midlands and nationally to have achieved this prestigious award.

In addition to this accolade the Access and Learning Team at the Museum have also won an Education Business Partnership Award for working with a Birmingham inner-city secondary school. Staff joined forces with the King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls, developing a joint workshop, as part of a careers project, to enable students to develop the necessary confidence, communications and team-building skills to successfully enter the workplace.

As a result of this work, Education Officer Philip Clayton was asked to contribute to ‘At the Heart of It – Working with Teenagers’; a teacher’s reference manual which illustrates how Museums and Collections can be effectively used in the educational development of young people. This will be released to secondary schools in the West Midlands shortly.

Commenting on these awards, Alex Medhurst, General Manager for Cosford stated,     “Once again I am very proud that the hard work, ingenuity and commitment to excellence shown by all members of the Cosford Team have been recognised by these bodies. Such a commitment is central to all our dealings with the public and the service that they receive.”
